International Investigation Unfolds Following Attacks on Jewish Institutions
A series of violent attacks targeting Jewish institutions in Canada and the United States has prompted an international investigation and expressions of condolence from diplomatic officials. The incidents, which included shootings at multiple synagogues in Toronto and an attack on the US Consulate, have raised concerns about potential foreign involvement.
Alleged Foreign Involvement
An unsealed criminal complaint revealed a wiretapped conversation with an individual identified as al-Saadi, who reportedly claimed that “our people” were responsible for the attacks. The conversation, which took place shortly after the March 10 shooting, also referenced an attack on “the Knesset,” believed to be referring to a synagogue in Toronto that was targeted around the same time.
Response from Israeli Embassy
Israel’s Ambassador to Canada, Iddo Moed, expressed his condolences following the death of police officer Marc Pinizzotto, who was killed while investigating the series of shootings. In a statement posted on X, the ambassador offered his “deepest condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues” of the fallen officer who died while serving the community.
Ongoing Investigation
Toronto police have not yet confirmed whether a recent raid conducted on Thursday morning was directly related to the synagogue shootings. Authorities have also not disclosed whether any of the suspects have ties to Iran or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as the investigation continues to unfold.
