43-Year-Old Man Charged After Stabbing in Windsor Downtown

A 43-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a knife attack in downtown Windsor seriously injured a 31-year-old man on Saturday morning, according to the Windsor Police Service.

Incident on Church Street

Windsor police responded to a report of a person armed with a weapon in the 300 block of Church Street at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 31-year-old victim suffering from an apparent stab wound to his abdomen.

Officers arrested the suspect within minutes at the intersection of University Avenue West and Dougall Avenue, near the scene of the incident.

Victim Hospitalized With Serious Injuries

The victim was transported to hospital with injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening. Police investigators believe the victim and the suspect were known to each other, suggesting the incident was not a random attack.

Charges Filed

The 43-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have indicated that additional charges could follow as more information comes to light.
