Detroit Lions Cornerback Terrion Arnold Arrested on Kidnapping and Armed Robbery Charges
Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has surrendered to authorities and faces multiple felony charges after two co-defendants agreed to plea deals in a kidnapping and assault case allegedly led by the NFL player. The 23-year-old is accused of four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery in connection with an incident that left three teenagers beaten and held at gunpoint.
Arnold was taken into custody on Wednesday evening, according to a statement from Tampa police. He is currently being held at the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County, Florida. The Hillsborough County District Attorney’s Office indicated that the eight charges carry a possible sentence of up to life in prison.
What Happened?
The arrest stems from events that unfolded nearly five months after a “targeted armed robbery” of three men in their late teens on February 4. Three days prior to that incident, Arnold and others had several personal items worth more than $250,000 stolen from an Airbnb the NFL player was renting in Largo, Florida.
According to police, Arnold suspected that two of the three robbery victims were responsible for the theft of his property. Investigators allege that Arnold and several of six co-defendants lured the suspects to a Tampa apartment, where the three teenagers were beaten, held at gunpoint, and pistol-whipped before having their personal property stolen and being ordered to leave the apartment.
The police report further states that one of the defendants livestreamed the incident to Arnold and two others while en route to the apartment, and that a group chat was created to coordinate instructions during the attack.
Arrests and Investigation
Four men between the ages of 23 and 27 and two 19-year-old women were arrested between February 4 and 21 in connection with the robbery and kidnapping, police said. The victims, who have since been cleared of involvement in the original Airbnb theft, reported the incident to Tampa police and were able to positively identify the suspects, according to the report.
The Florida State Attorney’s Office announced it plans to file a pretrial motion to keep Arnold in prison pending trial, citing that “he continues to pose a danger to the community.” A date for that hearing has not yet been set.
Arnold’s Camp Denies Allegations
Arnold has previously denied any involvement in the case. Denise White, managing director of Arnold’s agency EAG Sports Management, reiterated that stance following his surrender.
“There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations,” White said. “Instead, the government appears to be relying on the testimony of several convicted criminals who have admitted their own involvement and may have significant incentives to shift blame in order to mitigate their sentences.”
White added: “Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the legal process will result in his ultimate vindication.”
What This Means for Arnold’s NFL Career
Arnold was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and has played in 24 games for the team. His last game took place on November 27, 2025, in which he recorded four of his 31 total tackles for the season.
The Lions issued a brief statement in response to the developing situation: “We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold. We will not be commenting at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”
As the legal proceedings move forward, Arnold’s status with the team remains uncertain while he awaits trial.
