Details of the Crash

The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wellington Road 12 and Fourth Line in Mapleton Township. According to investigators, a van carrying nine people collided with a sport utility vehicle carrying one person at the intersection. All ten individuals involved in the crash were either injured or killed.

Emergency Response

In a video update released overnight, Wellington County OPP Const. Matt Burton described the incident as a “serious collision resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.” Three patients were airlifted to trauma centers, while several others were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Ongoing Investigation

The OPP Traffic Accident Management and Enforcement team is now assisting in the investigation. Police stated they would not release further details as they worked to notify the victims’ next of kin. The intersection remained closed Saturday while investigators continued to examine the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Wellington County OPP. Police are expected to provide an update during a news conference scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m.

This is a developing story and will be updated after the OPP press conference.
