Canadian Autoworkers May See 3% Annual Wage Increases Under New Ford Contract
Proposed Deal Includes Wage Growth and Factory Commitments
Thousands of Canadian autoworkers could secure a 3 percent wage increase each year for the next three years if they agree to a new labor contract with Ford Motor Company.
The union, Unifor, released details of the proposed collective bargaining agreement on Saturday, outlining a renewed commitment from Ford to keep its facilities open for Unifor employees.
In addition, Ford has pledged to invest more than $1 million in its factories located in Windsor and Oakville, Ontario, according to the negotiating team.
Negotiations and Upcoming Vote
Negotiations began on June 22, just as the contracts of the three major American automakers were set to expire.
Unifor chose to negotiate with Ford first, echoing its approach in the 2023 bargaining round.
The union says the results of a member vote on the agreement will be announced on Sunday, with officials noting they could not be reached for comment until Monday.
