Supertri Toronto 2024 Brings Major Road Closures on Sunday
Event Overview
Now in its 13th year, the Supertri Toronto—formerly the Toronto Triathlon Festival—offers a 1.5 km swim at Ontario Place, a 40 km bike ride along the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway, and a 10 km run on Lake Shore Boulevard.
Expected Participants
Organizers anticipate more than 1,750 athletes and over 200 volunteers will take part in the race.
Police Advice
Toronto police urge motorists to allow extra travel time, consider alternative routes, and obey all detour signs and directions from officers and event staff.
Detailed Road Closures
Lake Shore’s westbound curb lane from New Brunswick Way to British Columbia Road will be closed from 5 a.m. until about 2 p.m.
The east curb lane on Lake Shore, from Ontario Drive to roughly 300 metres east of British Columbia Road, will be shut from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The eastbound Gardiner Expressway, between the Humber River and the Don Valley Parkway, will be closed from 2 a.m. until noon.
The northbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway from the Gardiner Expressway to Eglinton Avenue will also be closed from 2 a.m. until noon.
Other Sports Activity
Major professional teams are not scheduled to play in Toronto that day, minimizing additional traffic congestion.
