A 53‑year‑old man in Abbotsford, B.C., was arrested after his recreational vehicle plowed through a perimeter fence and drove onto an active runway at Abbotsford International Airport on July 25.

Police Response and Timing

Airport staff and air traffic controllers acted quickly when the vehicle entered the runway at 4:36 p.m. Police arrived on scene at 4:41 p.m., locating the driver and taking him into custody.

Charges and Investigation

The man faces charges of dangerous driving and breach of trust. Authorities say the investigation is still in its early stages as they work to determine how the RV ended up on the runway.

While the runway was briefly disrupted, airport operations returned to normal without any reported injuries.
