Funeral Announced for Ontario Provincial Police Const. Tarun Bali
The funeral for Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Const. Tarun Bali, who was killed in the line of duty last week, has been scheduled for Thursday morning at the Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre.
Bali, 29, died after being struck by a vehicle in the northern Ontario town of Hearst—approximately 520 kilometers east of Thunder Bay—while officers were conducting an investigation.
Service Details
The OPP confirmed that the funeral service will not be open to the public. However, Bali’s family, along with fellow police officers, military personnel, and other dignitaries, are expected to attend. A designated public viewing area will be available where community members can watch the procession and service via livestream.
Suspect in Custody
An 18-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Bali’s death.
Remembering Const. Bali
Born in Naya Nangal, India—a city located about 358 kilometers north of New Delhi—Bali was described by police as a “dedicated, enthusiastic officer.” He was known for his volunteer work and fluency in multiple languages, including Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.
