Environment Canada indicated that atmospheric conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, large hail, strong winds, and heavy downpours.
A surface trough moving north from Montana is expected to fuel intense storm development through Saturday afternoon and evening. The agency warned that if tornadoes do form, significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and the natural environment is possible.

A line of slow-moving thunderstorms triggered severe thunderstorm warnings in parts of southern Saskatchewan on Saturday afternoon, accompanied by flash flood warnings and reduced visibility on roadways. Tornado warnings were in effect for areas of southeastern Saskatchewan, including communities near Estevan and Weyburn.
Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings were also active for Regina, Moose Jaw, and surrounding communities, putting millions of residents on alert throughout the day.
